Bhubaneswar (Special Correspondent, The Fact Bureau): In a significant move to fortify the grassroots of Indian football, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and the Department of Sports and Youth Services (DSYS), Government of Odisha, have officially extended their partnership.

The two entities signed a renewed five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a continued commitment to developing elite youth talent in the country.

The agreement was formalized by Vijay Yeddula, Director of Sports (DSYS), and M Satyanarayan, AIFF Deputy Secretary General, in the presence of AIFF Technical Director Syed Sabir Pasha.

This extension builds upon a successful initial collaboration that has already begun yielding tangible results for the national sports ecosystem.

Key Highlights of the Partnership

Expansion of Elite Programs: The MoU focuses on scaling the elite youth football partnership, ensuring advanced training for promising athletes.

Proven Track Record: The first cohort from the AIFF-FIFA Talent Academy has already produced standout players. Notable successes include 15-year-old athletes representing India at the U17 level and several youngsters from Odisha securing spots in premier academies.

Infrastructure & Vision: By leveraging Odisha’s world-class sporting infrastructure, the AIFF aims to create a sustainable pipeline for the national team.

AIFF Deputy Secretary General M Satyanarayan expressed deep gratitude to the Odisha government, noting that the “promising youngsters making their mark” are just the beginning.

He emphasized that this renewed agreement is a cornerstone of the mission to elevate Indian football to international standards.

Through this five-year roadmap, Odisha continues to cement its reputation as the “sports capital” of India, providing the foundation for the next generation of football stars to rise from the local fields to the global stage.
